How To Make Chinese Duck Sauce

Chinese Duck sauce is very easy to make. Though it does not have any duck in it but still it’s called Chinese duck sauce. It is a traditional American sauce and is very popular at the same time. This sauce is usually eaten with Peking duck along with pancake dressing which usually can be filled with green onions. This is also used as fermented sweet bean and very popular in America and usually eaten for breakfast. Not only in America but it is also very popular in Asia and Europe. It is a light kind of Hoisin sauce which is a delicious dip that you can serve with spring rolls.

Ingredients:

– 1 lb. ripe apricots
– 1 lb. ripe plums
– ¾ cup of water
– 1 ¼ cup of cider vinegar
– 1 cup of brown sugar
– ½ cup of freshly squeezed lemon juice
– 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon peel, grated
– 1 tablespoon of fresh orange peel, grated
– 1 small onion
– ¼ cup peeled ginger
– 1 serrano chili, seeded
– 2 small cloves of garlic
– 1 tablespoon of sea salt
– 1 tablespoon of mustard seed, toasted
– 1 cinnamon stick

    Wash all the utensils before making Chinese Duck Sauce and make sure that you always use washed tools in preparing any dish.

    Not only should you wash your utensils but always have clean hands before making or doing anything related with cooking.

    Take a saucepan and put all the necessary fruit plums in it and other ingredients. First take apricot plum and also vinegar along with half cup of water.

    Now set the stove on heat and start cooking the mixture. Stir firmly and cook it for five minutes. Do not stop stirring for another five minutes.

    Reduce the heat and keep stirring for another 15 minutes. It will help the mixture to cook with a fine blend. Now take a separate pan and put vinegar and brown sugar along with lemon juice.

    Cook it for five minutes and pour the sauce into the first saucepan mixture. Your Chinese Duck Sauce is ready to serve.
