How to Make Chocolate Candies at home

Chocolate candies are one of the most common delights, extensively consumed and gifted during the holiday season, thanksgivings, birthdays and other auspicious occasions. Buying these candies regularly from the market can be quite money draining, so we are presenting a recipe to make the best chocolate candy easily at home.

The candy is a combination of peanut butter with chocolate, rolled in the form of balls – Chocolate Peanut Butter Balls.

Yields: 36 to 42 candies
Utensils: Paddle mixer, large bowl, small pot, water jar, spoon, knife.

Ingredients:
Cream cheese, softened: 1/4 cup
Peanut butter (I used Skippy): 1 1/2 cups
Graham cracker crumbs: 1 cup
Confectioners’ sugar: 3 cups
Unsalted butter, melted and cooled: 10 tablespoons (1 1/4 sticks)
Good quality dark chocolate (60 to 72%), coarsely chopped: 12 ounces

    The first step of the process is to prepare the filling. For that take a bowl, put cream cheese and peanut butter in it and mix extensively with a paddle mixer, preferably an electric one. Then add the graham cracker crumbs and mix for about 10 seconds, before adding the confectioners' sugar and melted butter. The mixture is then beaten gently, gradually increasing the speed, until it gives a uniform dry look. Set this mixture aside.

    The second step involves the melting of chocolate. Take a small pot, fill it with some water and allow it to simmer. The chocolate is then chopped into small pieces, place it in a bowl and set over the simmering water until it melts. The chocolate which by now will be giving a smooth texture is poured into a small bowl and is allowed to cool.

    Next comes the preparation of the candies. Take the peanut butter dough and roll them into the form of a ball. Now take a fork, place the ball in that and dip it into the chocolate mixture. Now lift the fork and allow the excess chocolate to drip. Do until all the balls have been formed.

    The balls are placed in a parchment lined baking sheet, and refrigerated. This fully sets up the candies.
