How to Make Chocolate Coated Candy

People of various age groups simply love candies. Although it may not be the most excellent idea for those trying to shed their weight, it is simply undeniable that majority of the people have a sweet tooth that is impossible to hold back! An up-and-coming trend that is very hard to let pass nowadays is “chocolate-coated candy.” People have been coating many things like fruits, cookies, and dried fruits etc with chocolate. Regardless of being rich on the calories, chocolate has now been verified to help out in prevention of certain diseases. For example, it even has beneficial effects on heart problems. Chocolate Coated Candy is clearly a high-calorie delight, but anything taken in moderation is all right to go.

Ingredients:
Butter, softened: 1 cup
Bittersweet chocolate morsels: 12 ounces
Sugar: ¾ cup
Confectioners’ sugar- ¼ cup
Egg yolks: 2
Vanilla extract: 2 teaspoons
All-purpose flour: 2 cups
Ground cinnamon: 3 teaspoons
Baking powder: 2 teaspoons
Poppy seeds: 2 teaspoons
Salt: ¼ teaspoon
Candies like mints, gummy candies, lollipops or even marshmallows
Multicolour Sprinkles or Coloured Sugar, if desired

Instructions

    Prepare the Tray

    Take a large tray and place piece of wax paper on it. Set aside until you use it to place the coated candies.

    Melt the Chocolate

    First of all melt the chocolate properly for a sleek, glossy and smooth coating. You can use a double boiler to melt the 12 ounces of bittersweet chocolate morsels or by setting over boiling water. Check the simple procedures to Melt Chocolate Morsels.

    Add in the Butter

    Once you melt the chocolate, add in 1 cup of softened butter and stir until it dissolves completely.

    Add in the Remaining Ingredients

    Top the chocolate-butter mixture with ¾ cup of sugar and ¼ cup of confectioners' sugar. Now, crack two large eggs into a bowl, separate their white potion (yolk) and place in the bowl. Top the mixture with 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract, 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 3 teaspoons of ground cinnamon, 2 teaspoons of baking powder, 2 teaspoons of poppy seeds and ¼ teaspoon of salt.

    Blend the Ingredients

    Turn you electric mixer on and blend the ingredients until mixed thoroughly, forming a rich and smooth mixture.

    Dip the Candies into the Chocolate Coating

    Immediately dip a candy into the chocolate dip, hold for a few seconds to drip the excess coating and place on lined tray. Repeat the same method with the remaining candies and arrange them in an order, keeping some distance in between.

    Before the chocolate coating hardens, shake over some multicolor sprinkles or colored sugar over the coated candies.
