Instructions

1
The first step is washing the cranberries. Use fresh clean water for this. You are required to do it very gently; otherwise, the berries will be damaged. Also drain them properly.
-
2
Take one fresh orange, and peel it properly. If possible, remove the seeds from each slice one by one. It is though very difficult to remove seeds from each slice.
The best option is to cut the orange into quarters and then softly remove the seeds. Use a sharp knife and cutting board to split the orange into quarters. -
3
If you want to use an apple, cut it into small cubes after removing the skin. This ingredient is not essential though. It is the time to place the cranberries and orange in a food processor.
A grinder with a medium-sized lade is the best choice. The old-fashioned grinders usually leak some of the juice down the base. Therefore, you need an additional bowl to save the juice. You can add this juice to the relish afterwards. Process the cranberries and orange until coarsely chopped. -
4
It is the time to add the sugar. You can play around with the amount, depending on how sweet relish you want to prepare. However, avoid adding too much sugar, as it won’t allow you to enjoy the real taste of cranberries and orange.
-
5
Stir the material well, so the sugar dissolves properly.

The relish is ready now, but it cannot be serve immediately. You need to refrigerate it for at least a couple of hours before serving.
