Steps to Make Focaccia Bread Recipe

Ingredients:
Dry yeast: 1 package
Warm water: 1/3 cup
Tepid water: 2 ¼ cups
Good quality olive oil, plus more for the pan and to paint on top of the bread: 2 tablespoons
Bread flour: 3 cups
All-purpose flour: 4 ½ cups
Salt, plus coarse salt for sprinkling over the top: 1 teaspoon
Fresh rosemary – finely chopped: 2 to 3 tablespoon

Place 1 package of dry yeast in a large mixing bowl and pour in 1/3 cup of warm water. Stir until the yeast mixes with the water and forms smooth paste. Set it aside for 8 to 10 minutes until thick.

In the mean time, pour 2 ¼ cups of lukewarm water into a medium mixing bowl and stir in 2 tablespoons of olive oil.

At the end of 8 to 10 minutes, pour the olive oil solution into the yeast mixture and blend well.

Add 2 cups of flour into the oil-yeast mixture and use a large whisk to mix together all the ingredients until it forms a rich batter.

Now, cup by cup, stir in the remaining flour. Continue whisking until the batter converts into a thick dough.

Sprinkle some flour over your work surface and place the dough on the top. Now use both of your hands to knead the dough for at least 8 to 10 minutes until it is smooth and no stickier.

Take a large dry bowl and coat it internal sides and bottom with one tablespoon of olive oil, using a pastry brush.

Place the dough in this bowl and cover with a plastic wrapping sheet. Now set it aside at room temperature for one and half hour until it is rises and double in size.

After 1 ½ hour, get back to your project and pour some olive oil into a large baking sheet or baking pan. Spread it around, suing the back side of a small wooden ladle or spoon. It helps in making the movement of the bread easier for you.

Place the dough in the oiled baking sheet or pan and spread it until it smoothes out and touches all the sides.

Cover the baking sheet or pan and set aside for half an hour or until it rises well.

Now use your clean thumb to make dimple the surface of the dough, pushing it to about the end of your thumbnail.

Cover the baking pan or sheet again and set aside for around 2 hours, allowing it to rise to its fullest.

With 25 to 30 minutes to go before the dough rise finishes, preheat your oven to 400°F (204.44 °C).

Unseal the raised dough in the baking pan or sheet and use a pastry brush to coat its top with some olive oil.

Immediately, sprinkle some coarse salt all over the top of the oiled dough.

Place the baking sheet or pan in the preheat oven and bake it for 20 to 25 minutes or until the bread it golden /brown from all sides.

Once baked well, remove the Focaccia Bread from oven and shift into the cooling rack for 3 to 5 minutes or until lightly warm. It helps in keeping the bottom of the Focaccia bread crunchy.
