How to Make French Bread Pizza at Home
Pizza is an extremely versatile dish, and along with experimenting with the toppings and types of cheeses that can be used, the crust of the pizza can also be altered significantly. One version is the French bread pizza, which does not require the cook to prepare a crust – rather, slices of French bread form the base, and the toppings are layered on to make a quick and easy “pizza”.

Instructions

1
Start by preheating your oven to around 450 degrees F. Since the French bread you buy will already by cooked, this homemade pizza does not require any slow cooking, and needs to be in and out of the oven in no time – therefore, it is essential to get it nice and hot.

Now, slice your French bread for the pizza “crust”. This can be done in two ways – if you are looking to make mini pizzas, slice the loaf into small slices vertically, and if not, you can slice the loaf into half horizontally, and then cut these into half too, to make four long slices.

Once you have sliced up your bread, brush each cut side with a generous amount of good quality olive oil. Line up these slices, with the cut side up, on a cookie sheet, and bake these for around 5 to 8 minutes, until they are toasted and golden brown.

Take the bread out of the oven, and allow it to cool completely. Then spread on a thick and even layer of cream cheese on each slice, and add on the chicken and sliced tomatoes. Give each slice a good sprinkling of salt and pepper, to make sure they are all well-seasoned, and add on the red chilli flakes if you wish.

Sprinkle 1/3 cup of the cheese onto the slices, and layer on the pineapple, peppers, garlic and onions. Top with the remainder of the cheese, and slide the French bread pizzas into the oven. Bake for around 12 to 15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly. Take them out, and serve hot, with a crisp green salad on the side.
