How to Make Fudge Sauce At Home
Almost every ice cream lover craves hot fudge sauce topping. This dark brown coloured chocolate sauce, draping beautifully down the ice cream, complements almost every flavour, but goes really well with peppermint ice cream, coffee ice cream and butter pecan.
Most people think that using melted chocolate is the secret to making a perfect fudge sundae, but only a few know that the real secret lies in the ingredients. To make a silky smooth hot fudge sauce, you need to use good quality cream, chocolate, butter and corn syrup. While the butter adds more flavour to the sauce, corn syrup adds shine to it and keeps it from hardening.
Prep time: 3 to 5 min
Cook time: 5 to 7 min
Total time: 10 to 12 min
Yield: 7 to 8 servings
Utensils: A heavy sauce pan, measuring cups, measuring spoons, whisker.
Ingredients:
Cream: 8 ounces
Melted black chocolate: 8 ounces
Corn syrup: ¼ cup
Brown sugar: ½ cup
Melted butter: 5 tablespoons
Baking cocoa: 2 to 3 tablespoons
A pinch of salt
Instructions
-
1
Pour eight ounces of good quality cream in a heavy sauce pan.
-
2
Place the sauce pan over the stove on medium heat.
-
3
Add ¼ cup of corn syrup and 2 to 3 tablespoons of baking cocoa to the cream.
-
4
Also add half cup of brown sugar and give the cream a good whisk around to mix all the ingredients well.
-
5
Allow the mixture to simmer on low heat; however, do not bring it to a hard boil.
-
6
Add a pinch of salt and few drops of vanilla extract and give it a good mix around once again.
-
7
Break two bars of black chocolate into small pieces and add it to the simmering mixture.
-
8
Allow the chocolate to melt on low heat, while stirring occasionally.
-
9
Once the chocolate has melted, add five tablespoons of butter to the sauce. If you are using melted butter then it’s ok, otherwise you would need to give the sauce a good mix with whisk to make sure there are no lumps of butter left around.
-
10
Once the butter and chocolate have melted completely, your hot fudge sauce is ready.
-
11
Allow the hot fudge sauce to cool a bit before you pour it over the ice cream. 2 to 3 tablespoons of the sauce will be enough for one serving.
