A heart is one of the most popular shapes for cakes and cupcakes. Cakes with a heart drawn on top with icing or shaped into one are common as the popularity of the shape does not show any signs of waning. It denotes love and warm feelings and is appropriate for almost all occasions. Cupcakes can be used for everyday treats, celebrations and as gifts for loved ones.
Ingredients
- Butter - 200 g
- Eggs - 3 eggs
- Flour - 3 cups
- Caster Sugar - 1 cup
- Milk - ½ cup
Instructions
- The first step is to make the batter.
- This step is of course the same whether one uses a heart shaped tin or a regular one.
- You will need to pre-heat the oven to 180 C.
- Whisk together the butter and the sugar until they make a fluffy mixture.
- Now add the eggs, one at a time and beat them well.
- Add the flour to the mixture, introducing gradually to prevent any lumps.
- Add the milk to the bowl slowly and mix in. The batter is ready.
- Alternatively, a pre-packaged cake mix can also be used for convenience and ease.
- If you are using a heart shaped tin, slowly pour the batter in one by one.
- Take care of any side drippings. Leave room in the tins for when the cupcakes rise as they are being baked in the oven.
- If you are not using a special tin and want to do this with your regular one, you can still get the perfect heart shaped cup cakes.
- However, an extra and unusual item will also be needed.
- You will need some marbles for bringing out the heart shape.
- The marbles should be clean and round. Line the tin with a cupcake wrapper.
- Pinch a small portion of the cupcake inwards to make a fold like the one in a heart towards the centre of the tin.
- Now line the tin with this wrapper and place a marble over the inward fold. Pour in the batter.
- Now place the marble in a way between the tin and the wrapper that it helps in keeping the wrapper shaped like a heart.
- Pour in the batter.
- Place the cupcake tins in the pre-heated oven and bake for around 20 minutes.
- You will know the cupcakes are done when a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean.
- Take out the tins and let them cool down.
- The heart shape can be outlined using cream and frosting to enhance the effect.
