Calendula oil is known for its remarkable healing properties, and when incorporated into a cream, can become an excellent homeopathic remedy for curing skin that is uncomfortably dry and rough. Calendula cream is multipurpose and can be used all over your body – to reap added benefits, make the cream at home, to obtain a natural and safe product that is free of the harsh and harmful chemicals and preservatives found in the store-bought varieties.
Ingredients
  • Calendula-infused extra virgin olive oil
  • Shea butter
  • Mango butter
  • Avocado oil
  • Jojoba oil
  • Beeswax
  • Preferred essential oils (optional)
Instructions
  1. To begin, get your double boiler ready. This is essentially a metal bowl balanced atop a saucepan of simmering water on the stove (make sure the bottom of the metal bowl is not touching the surface).
  2. You will need to ensure that the bowl of the double boiler is absolutely clean, as any impurities in the bowl will naturally make their way into your cream and contaminate it.
  3. Once the double boiler is ready, bring it down to low heat, and add 1 oz. of calendula-infused extra virgin olive oil, ½ oz. avocado oil, ¼ oz. jojoba oil, 1 oz. shea butter, 1 oz. mango butter, and ¼ oz. beeswax into it.
  4. Allow all these ingredients to heat up until they begin to melt.
  5. Keep a close eye on the beeswax, and when it has melted completely, take the double boiler off the heat.
  6. Use a stirring stick or wooden spoon to stir it around until all the ingredients are thoroughly combined.
  7. Next, without wasting any time or letting the mixture cool off, turn a handheld electric mixer on high, and beat all the ingredients together until they become light and fluffy, with a whipped texture.
  8. Then you can either choose to let the cream retain the original calendula scent, or add in a couple of drops of your favourite essential oils.
  9. Mix the essential oils in until the scent is evenly distributed throughout the cream.
  10. Finally, scoop the cream into a plastic air-tight container, and screw on the lid. Store it in a cool, dry place.
