Beef Stroganoff is a comfort dish. The perfect combination of beef, butter, broth and cream makes it irresistible. It can be prepared fairly quickly and easily. If you want a quick meal full of taste then this is definitely one of the best options.
Ingredients
- Ground beef - 1 pound
- Yellow onion, chopped - ½ (about ⅓ cup)
- Garlic, minced - 1 teaspoon (about 1-2 cloves)
- Butter - 2-3 tbsp
- Beef broth - 1½ cups
- Sour cream - 1 cup
- Can cream of mushroom soup - 1
- Handful of mushrooms - (About 8 oz.) roughly chopped
- Flour - 3 tbsp.
- Salt & Pepper - To taste
- Egg Noodles - As needed
Instructions
- Fill a pot with water and bring it to a boil.
- Cook the noodles in it according to the directions given on the package.
- Take a frying pan and turn the heat to medium high, cook the meat thoroughly and it should be browned. Do not stir it a lot as the chunks would break up.
- Take the beef out and drain it on an absorbent paper.
- Remove excess grease from the pan and put it back on the stove.
- Put 3 tablespoon butter and chopped mushrooms and onion in it.
- Cook them on medium heat until the onions become soft.
- Add garlic and cook for another 2 minutes, do not let the garlic burn.
- To the same pan, add the flour and stir.
- Pour in the beef broth and whisk hard so that no lumps are formed in the pan.
- Keep the heat to high and let it boil for 3 minutes.
- Turn the heat to medium and add the cream of mushroom soup and sour cream.
- Give the mixture a stir so that it gets smooth.
- Season the mixture with salt and pepper and taste it to make adjustments accordingly.
- Add some garlic powder.
- If the mixture gets too thick, just add some broth or milk and make it to desired consistency.
- Add the ground beef and let it heat.
- Serve it hot on a plate of egg noodles.
