Mandarin orange salad is one of the most delicious salads as it can be served during breakfast or lunch. Furthermore, it makes a perfect appetiser for parties. It is quite easy to make as all you need is a little time, some oranges and few other ingredients.
Ingredients
- Vegetable oil - ½ cup
- Cider vinegar - ¼ cup
- White sugar - ¼ cup
- Dried parsley - 2 teaspoons
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1 pinch ground
- Sliced almonds - ½ cup
- Red leaf lettuce (rinsed, dried and torn) - 1 head
- Red onion (chopped) - 1
- Chopped celery - 1 cup
- Cans mandarin orange segments (drained) - 2 (11 ounce)
Instructions
- First, you have to take jar with a lid.
- Add oil, sugar and vinegar to the jar as you mix all the ingredients.
- Then, add, parsley, pepper and salt.
- Cover the jar with its lid and shake all the ingredients.
- Make sure everything is properly mixed.
- After that, place the jar in the refrigerator so that the mixture can get cool.
- Meanwhile, take a saucepan (medium-sized) and place it on a medium-low heat stove.
- Put some sugar along with the almonds in the saucepan.
- Cook until the sugar melts down while the almonds are coated.
- It is extremely important for you to keep stirring the sugar and almonds while cooking.
- Then, remove the saucepan from the stove and place it aside so that almonds cool down.
- Then, break the almonds apart.
- Take a large bowl, put celery, oranges and lettuce.
- Mix them well by tossing or by using a spatula.
- Make sure that the oranges are not squeezed.
- Otherwise, you will be unable to make your salad look fresh.
- Add almonds to the bowl and mix them with the celery, oranges and lettuce.
- Make sure to mix all the ingredients gently, otherwise the salad will be squeezed.
