How to Make Orange Frosting

Orange frosting is one of the most delicious types of icing which can be used as a topping for cupcakes and cakes. However, you can also eat it with bread during your breakfast. It is a perfect blend of margarine, butter, orange rind and orange juice. You can also add different flavours like chocolate or rose to make it tastier.

Yield: Serves 4-6 as a side dish
Utensils: Bowls, knife, spoons, fork, paper towel, electric mixer

Ingredients:
Butter or dairy-free, trans-fat free: 100g (or just under half a cup) margarine
Orange rind: 2 teaspoons grated
Icing sugar, sifted: 2 cups
Orange juice (freshly squeezed is best): 1 – 2 tbsp
Yellow & red food colouring drops for orange hue (optional)

    First, take a bowl and add the cream and butter or margarine in it. Mix them well with the help of the electric mixer or whisk. When the mixture becomes a little fluffy and light, whip it. After that, you have to add the orange rind in the bowl. Take a fork and mix the rind and butter mixture well.

    Then, add half of the sugar in the butter mixture and mix it well. Keep beating the icing sugar slowly and add the remaining sugar. You will have to beat the sugar until the mixture becomes soft.

    Now, you have to add the orange juice. It is very important to pour the juice slowly in small amounts, otherwise it will gather at the centre and you will not able to mix it well with the mixture.

    If you are planning to make cakes or cupcakes for anybody’s birthday, you can use food colouring to make your orange frosting looking better. However, it is extremely important for you to use good quality food colour which doesn’t affect the taste of your frosting. Mix the food colour well with the mixture in the bowl.

    Then, you have to frost the dessert. Take a knife and spread it on the cupcake, cake or cookies. You can store the icing in the refrigerator for around two weeks if you place it in airtight container.
