How to Make Postcards on Word

Even though you can easily choose from a wide variety of postcards at a book or paper supply store, it is always a good idea to make one at home, especially if you plan to convey a very unique message to the receiver. Microsoft Office Word is one of the simplest programmes to use for this task. You will just need to familiarise yourself with a few Word features and commands and the road will be all set for you to make a perfect, customised postcard.

Things Required:

– Microsoft Office 2010 installed on a computer
– Colour printer
– Printing paper

Instructions

  • 1

Choose the picture you want to display on the postcard. You can either download a picture from the internet or you can choose an appropriate picture from your personal collection of digital images saved somewhere on your computer’s hard drive.

  • 2

Open a Microsoft Office Word 2010 document and click the ‘Insert’ tab. Then click the ‘Picture’ button in the ‘Illustrations’ section of the ‘Insert’ tab. Word will open a dialogue box captioned ‘Insert Picture’.

  • 3

Navigate to the location of the picture that you chose in the first step and double click its thumbnail image in order to open it in Word.

  • 4

After your desired picture has been opened in Word, click on it and then click the ‘Mailings’ tab at the top of the Word screen.

  • 5

In the ‘Create’ section of the ‘Mailings’ tab, you will see two buttons; ‘Envelopes’ and ‘Labels’. Click the latter as this will open a dialogue box captioned ‘Envelopes and Labels’. Click the ‘Options’ button in that dialogue box.

  • 6

Another dialogue box captioned 'Label Options' will popup. Click the 'Label vendors' dropdown list and choose 'Herlitz PBS AG'. From the 'Product number' section, choose 'Photo Postcards' and then click 'OK'.

  • 7

You will be returned to the ‘Envelopes and Labels’ dialogue box. Now click the ‘New Document’ button and then type in the message you want to convey to the receiver along with the receiver’s address.

  • 8

Place some high quality photo printing paper in the tray of you colour printer. Click the Microsoft Office logo on the top left corner of the Word screen and then click ‘Print’. Make changes to the print options if required. Otherwise click ‘OK’ to print the postcard.
