Home baked biscuits are a treat, especially with the evening tea or coffee. Baking shortbread biscuits at home is very easy and takes only about an hour. If you are looking to bake a batch, put your baking gloves on and keep reading this article to make these delightfully tasty biscuits.
Ingredients
- Butter or margarine - 1 cup
- Sugar - 3 cups
- Vanilla - 1 teaspoon
- Flour - 2 ½ cups
Instructions
- Begin by pre-heating the oven to 350°F, and while the oven heats, grind the sugar in an electric grinder to get powdered sugar which will be easy to mix in the dough.
- This also needs to be done in order to avoid solid pieces of sugar from getting in your mouth. Biscuits with unmixed sugar destroy their real taste.
- Now take a large bowl, either made of plastic or wood and wash it properly.
- Once washed, add butter, powdered sugar and vanilla in it and beat with the help of a spoon.
- Now while stirring introduce the flour in the mixture slowly.
- In a matter of minutes you will have dough in the bowl.
- Now you need to roll this dough on a surface covered with flour. Try not to press the dough too much since you want it to be thick.
- If you have a biscuit cutter, then you need to use it to cut the dough into pieces, these cuts should be according to the number of biscuits that you want to make.
- You will now require an ungreased biscuit sheet on which you need to place these cut pieces of dough.
- Keep some distance between the pieces as you place them on the sheet.
- Now place this sheet in the oven and bake for about 15 minutes, until you can see the biscuits turn golden brown, which is a sign that they have been properly cooked.
- Once the oven timer stops, take them out using a baking glove to protect your hand from any burns and put the biscuits aside to let them cool off in normal room temperature.
- You can then serve them with tea as they are an evening delight.
