Instructions

  • 1

Decide the type of pavers you want to make. Would you like the sidewalk to resemble a slate or would you like it to resemble a pebbled or dirt sidewalk. For a slate sidewalk, use coloured Necco candy. You can also use speckled halved jelly beans to make the sidewalk look pebbled. Furthermore, for imparting a dirt look to the sidewalk, you can make use of brown sugar.

  • 2

Make sure that the colour of the royal icing which you will be using is same as the colour of the pavers. This will you will be able to conceal the bright white royal icing which you will have to use in order to hold the pavers in the right place. You also have the option of adding light brown food colouring if you want the icing to resemble brick path mortar.

  • 3

Complete the design of the sidewalk working in small sections, applying small amounts of icing to your workspace on the gingerbread house. For each small section which you cover with royal icing, place the pavers as well.

Once you are done placing the pavers, use a piece of aluminium foil to wrap the workspace. Place gingerbread house on top of the aluminium foil followed by the sidewalk. Use a toothpick to inscribe a simple design on sidewalk.
