How to Make Sushi at Home
If you are tired of spending too much money to eat Sushi in restaurants, then you should seriously think about making it at your home, as it is really easy to make, and you can bring the same taste in your dish, which you buy from the restaurants. The process seems a bit tricky. However, it is not as difficult as it appears. Therefore, you should try it at least once and it is for sure that you will master it in just one attempt.
The following recipe yields approximately 3 roles.
Preparation time: 45 minutes
Cooking time: 15 minutes
Total time: 1 hour
Utensils: small bowl of water (about 1 cup) mixed with 2 Tbsp. rice vinegar, rice cooker, bamboo mat
Ingredients:
Wrapper/Rice/Seasoning:
– 1 package nori (seaweed)
– 2 cups Jasmine “sushi” (short-grain) rice
– 2 Tbsp. rice vinegar
– 2 Tbsp. Sugar
– 1 tsp. Salt
– toasted sesame seeds (optional)
Filling:
– 1/2 lb. sushi-grade fish (salmon, tuna, crab, etc.)
– thinly sliced vegetables (this recipe used avocado, carrots, red pepper, cucumbers and green onions)
– thinly sliced cream cheese (optional)
Spicy Mayo Sauce:
– 2 Tbsp. Mayonnaise
– 2 Tbsp. Sriracha
Dipping (optional):
– soy sauce
– wasabi
– pickled ginger (served on the side)

Rinse and drain the rice in cold water again and again, until you find the water completely clean. Cook the rice using rice cooker.

While your rice is being cooked, you can create rice seasoning mixture. Take rice vinegar, sugar and salt and stir them together in a small saucepan. Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to boil. Remove the saucepan from the heat.

When you feel that rice is well cooked, transfer them to a pan or a cookie sheet, whatever you feel comfortable with. Sprinkle the rice with the mixture you just created. Cover the rice with damp cloth and allow it to cool.

To create the filling, you can choose whatever you want, according to your taste preference. Cut the ingredients in thin and long pieces.

Spicy sauce adds great taste to sushi. So, take a small bowl and mix together mayo and Sriracha to create the sauce.

To create the dipping sauce, mix together soy sauce and wasabi. You should try to add soy sauce in the bowl and gradually add wasabi, and keep on checking the taste. When you feel the taste is according to your needs, stop adding wasabi.

Now place a piece of nori on bamboo mat and spread rice all across the nori. Place the other ingredients over the rice and create rolls. Cut the rolls in small pieces and serve.
