How to Make Vegetarian Mayonnaise at Home

Mayonnaise is mostly avoided by people who are conscious about their diet or are on a weight loss routine. However, you can make vegetarian mayonnaise at home which is low in calories and is healthy also. You just need to blend a few ingredients with soy milk and the mayonnaise will be ready for use.

Ingredients:
Soy milk: ¾ cup
Olive oil: ¾ cup
Salt: 1 teaspoon
Freshly squeezed lemon: 1 ½ tablespoon
Honey: 1 tablespoon

    First of all, add the soy milk to the blender. Soy milk is beneficial for weight loss and is different from the regular sweetened milk. It is also healthier and helps improve the blood lipid profile. Add salt, lemon juice and the tablespoon of honey also to the blender and blend all the ingredients for a good one minute. Make sure all the ingredients are well combined in the blender before moving onto the next step. A good way to check whether the ingredients are well mixed or not is to taste it with a spoon.

    When the ingredients are totally combined, start adding the olive oil slowly to the mixture. Do not add whole of the quantity to the blender. The best way is to add one tablespoon at a time and then use the blender. Stop adding oil when you feel that the mixture has reached the right thickness. You can add more olive oil of you feel that the combination is still thinner than required.

    When you feel that the mayonnaise is perfect, pour it into a sealable jar carefully. You can use a teaspoon to add the vegetarian mayonnaise to the jar to avoid any mess. Make sure that the jar you select is sealable as the mayonnaise will not last as long of you take a simple jar. Always keep the jar refrigerated after use.
