How to Make Wedding Favors Using an Egg Carton Tool
Among the countless traditions at weddings is the act of handing out wedding favors to the guests who graced the occasion and shared your special day with you. If you have a budget large enough, you can invest in store-brought favors, but a more cost-effective idea would be to make the favors at home. This will lend the whole act a more personal touch, and you will be able to tailor the favors to suit your preferences. An egg carton tool can serve as an ideal base for homemade wedding favors, and can be jazzed up to suit any wedding theme.
Things Required:
– Egg cartons
– Spray paint
– Old newspapers
– Tulle circles
– Thin ribbon cut into 4-inch to 6-inch-long pieces
– Candy

Simple egg cartons can serve as a great base for a wedding favour. Firstly, you will need to make sure the egg cartons are completely clean – ensure that there is not dirt, or worse, tiny feathers, stuck to them. You can use a clean cloth dipped in water and vinegar to wipe down all the cartons, and spray them with some fragrant mist for added effect.

Now, proceed to cut the folding lids off the egg cartons, so you are left with the part that holds the eggs. Then, cut this into more manageable sections – if you have cartons of dozen, cut them so that each section comprises 4 egg cups.

Next, you will need to spray the egg cartons. Use a spray paint in any color that coordinates with your wedding theme – e.g. if you are going for a spring-themed wedding, spray paint the cartons in colors like pink, light turquoise, and sunny yellow. Spread out old newspapers, place the cartons on these, and spray them on both sides. Then, allow them to dry.

Now, you are ready to begin assembling your wedding favors. Place a circle of tulle on top of an egg opening, making sure you position it right in the centre – the edges of the tulle should spread out over the opening.

5
Then, place a cluster of candy right in the centre of the tulle circle, directly on top of the egg opening. The candy you choose depends entirely on you – however, just keep in mind that wedding favors are meant to fit easily into people’s hands, so you will need to opt for small pieces of candy. Go for Hershey’s Kisses and Hugs, or place a couple of Ferrero Rochers or Ferrero Raffaellos in each favour. It is essential to opt for candy that will not melt easily, particularly if you are having a summer wedding – don’t go for sweets like truffles unless the wedding is in the middle of winter.

The weight of the candy should make the centre of the tulle sink into the egg carton, with only the edges of the material sticking up. Gather these edges in a bunch, and tie them together with a ribbon – since the bridesmaids will be handing out the favors, you can coordinate the color of the ribbons with the bridesmaids’ outfits. Finally, tie the ribbon into a bow – your wedding favors, made using an egg carton tool, are now ready.
