How to Make Wedding Mints

Wedding mints are made from cream cheese dough and are an absolute treat to the taste buds. As the name suggests, they are customarily made on weddings where the guests chew on them happily, with the delicious flavor melting in their mouths. However, you do not have to wait for a wedding to make them. You can make them anytime of the year and even store them for weeks. They are extremely easy to make and do not make much of the time. The kids are going to love them and you can substitute their candy with them. Any one who likes cheese cream is bound to hoard these mints. You can mold them into interesting shapes using candy mold tools. A jar of wedding mints in the refrigerator can turn out to be treat time for your kids and even yourself. Involve the kids in the activity because it is very simple to perform. Our step by step guide has everything  you need to make these amazing treats.

Preparation time: 30 minutes
Serving size: The ingredients below make 50 mint balls
Utensils: mixing bowl, waxed paper, candy mold

Ingredients:

– 3 oz cream cheese
– 2 1/2 c. powdered sugar
– 1/4 tsp. mint flavoring
– food coloring

    You need to make the dough first. Take out the mixing bowl and pour in it the cream cheese and powdered sugar. Mix in 1/8 tablespoon of the flavoring.  If you believe you should add more flavoring, do so at this stage. Knead the ingredients together. You can also use the food processor. Add in the coloring of your choice and mix it in. Make a hard dough out of the mixture.

    Take small portions out of the dough and start rolling it into tiny balls on your palm. The size of the balls depends on your own choice and molding. Try to keep a standard size. Coat each ball that you make in granulated sugar and place it on a wax paper.

    Once you are done making balls, take each one of them and press them one by one into the candy mold. Turn the mold over and hit it on the back over your hand so that the mint drops into your hand safely. Do this with all the balls you made.

    To store mints, place them on layers of waxed paper inside airtight containers and refrigerate them. They can be frozen like this for a few weeks.
