How to Make your Own Dog Food

Keeping a pet is becoming an expensive hobby day by day. One needs a handsome amount of money to buy food for the pet each week. Especially the price of the dog food is pretty high. Furthermore, the commercial food is not considered to be healthy by many experts, as it carries plenty of preservatives that could make the pet ill.

It is always better to feed natural items to the dogs, and you can make natural food for the pet on your own. It is not hard at all. All you need is a simple mix of meat, some vegetables and scratches. There are three different ways of preparing nice dog food at home.

    Ingredients - Hamburger, Seafood, and Liver

    - 2 lbs hamburger
    - 10 oz shrimp or lobster
    - 1 cup raw liver
    - 1 boiled potato
    - 2 cups of rolled oats
    - ¼ cup blueberries
    - ½ cup brown rice
    - ¼ cup wheat germ
    - ¼ cup brewer's yeast
    - A pinch of cinnamon

    First of all, combine different ingredients such as beef, boiled potato and shrimp in a blender or food processor. Blueberries should also be crushed properly to get a mushy fruit paste. Once you have the entire material crushed, blend them all and feed your dog. Make sure you prepare this only a few minutes before feeding, because it does stale very quickly.

    Ingredients - Vegetarian Meal

    - 8 cups oats
    - 2 cups brown rice
    - 6 cups barley
    - 2 lbs carrots (grated)
    - 3 to 4 bunches of broccoli
    - 6 zucchini (grated)
    - ½ bunch parsley (chopped)

    Cook the oats and the rice side by side in two different pots. Let the both items cool. You can even leave them for 8-10 hours. After that, chop the vegetables through a food processor. Combine all the ingredients, and feed your dog.

    Ingredients - Dog Meatloaf

    - 1½ pounds lean ground beef
    - 3 stalks celery (chopped)
    - 2 carrots (grated)
    - 1 apple (cored and diced)
    - 2 eggs
    - 2 slices white bread (torn into pieces)
    - 1 cup regular rolled oats
    - 1 cup wheat germ
    - 6 ounce can of tomato paste
    - 4 medium potatoes (cubed)
    - 3 carrots (chopped)
    - 1 stalk celery (cubed)

    After preheating your oven to 350˚F, mix all the ingredients together in a large bowl. Divide the material at least in four sections, shaping them into loaves. After roasting these loaves for a few minutes, bake them at least for an hour. Offer the food to your dog after it gets cool.
