How to Pack Boxes for a Move
Shifting from one place to another often becomes a tough task. It surely needs plenty of effort to pack all the things and then reorganise them at a new place. It is important to pack everything with a good strategy to avoid any damage.
A lot of people make mistakes by putting too much burden on a single box. Consequently, the box tears up and causes plenty of harm. The enthusiasm of moving to the new place can make us rush, but curb the eagerness for a while and focus entirely on packing.
Getting support from other family members is a good idea, but you should supervise all the packing to know which box contains what.
THINGS REQUIRED:
– Boxes
– Tape
– Knife/scissor
– Paper and pencil
Instructions
-
1
After getting boxes of different sizes, start with the items that are least often used. Start packing everything at the same time would be a massive mistake. Always cover one room at a time if possible.
-
2
Take a piece of paper and write down everything you are packing. In order to avoid any confusion, take note of which item is in which box.
-
3
Be wise when it comes to choosing boxes. Always go with the sturdy boxes, so that you can easily stack boxes on top of one another.
-
4
Before putting the stuff in the boxes, don’t ever forget to tape the bottom of the box. The base must be strong to stop things from falling down.
-
5
After working on bottom of the box, it is time to put in the stuff. It is imperative that you don’t put too much things in a box. The weight of the box should not be too much, so that it can be lifted easily.
Place the large items at the bottom of the box, followed by smaller things. Balance all the boxes with a mixture of heavy and light items. Acquire more boxes if needed. -
6
Use newspaper or bubble wrap when it comes to pack fragile items, like crockery. You can easily get old newspapers from local stores. Use a separate box for sensitive items.
-
7
The step to mark boxes is very important. You can mark ‘Fragile’ and ‘This side up’ to prevent mishandling.
You can also put labels on the boxes, indicating which room it belongs to. You can also write a key word about the items inside, like books, clothes or crockery.
