First of all, you have to find out in which events you can participate as the events of cowboys and cowgirls differ. For instance, cowboys can participate in calf roping, team roping, saddle bronc riding, steer wrestling and bull riding. On the other hand, the cowgirls can only participate in breakaway calf roping and barrel racing. In some competitions cowgirls are allowed to participate in goat tying and pole bending.
