How to Professionally Record an Audio Book
Audio book is an audible recording of a book which is a good alternative to reading at the occasions when you are not free for instance, when you are driving or you just don’t have time to read a book or you are just bored of reading stuff. Furthermore, it can be a great activity for the people who have eyesight issues. Besides, it can also be presented as a gift to a family member or a friend.
You can buy audio books from book stores, internet or check them at libraries. However, if you don’t want to spend any money and you don’t have access to a library, you can easily record your own audio book at your home by following some simple steps.

You need to have a proper recording device in your PC or laptop. Normally, computers have built-in microphones and software like QuickTime which can be used for voice recording. Moreover, there are many smartphone apps which you can use to record your voice e.g. iPhone’s iTalk or Voice Memos. Additionally, you can also use old version of tape recorder for recording your audio book if you have technology to convert it to an audio file later. It will be better if you can buy professional microphone for recording your audio book to get better sound quality.

Before recording, you have to make sure that there is nothing in the surrounding which can cause distortion. Don’t record your voice in a room which has hard floor. In addition, you should set up foam pads or blankets on the walls of your room so as to minimise the echo effects.

Choose a comfortable place to sit at a reasonable distance from your recording device. You should neither sit too close to the recording device nor too far in order to record voice clearly.

Now, press ‘Record’ button on the recording software in your computer and start reading your book aloud in your room. You have to speak clearly. You should use variations in your voice depending upon the content of the chapters in your book to make it sound good.

After finishing, press ‘Stop’ button and save the file in MP3 format. Then, you can sync your file in your iTunes or you can burn it to a CD to play in your car.
