How to Promote a Music Festival

Want to promote an event that is based totally on music? Trying to hold a Music event and promoting it is not an easy thing to do. You have to take into account all the genres of music and you have to cater people who listen to those different genres.

Therefore, whenever it comes down to advertising and promoting a musical festival, you have to start off at a lower level. You have to grab a niche market that is too much in demand by the crowd or the people who you are trying to entertain with this event.

The first thing that you need to do is to pick a genre of music. There are different genres of music and they are further divided into sub-categories. Rather than picking a sub-category, try to cater more genres and grab a major category. For example: Don’t choose the sub-category “Grunge Rock” from the major category “Rock”. You can grab the crowd from grunge rock, to punk rock if you give the event a headline which only reflects the rock genre.

The second thing that you have to come up with is the location for the event. You already have a plan, and you have chosen the genre which you will cater – now what? You have to find a place where you can hold this festival and you have to decide when this festival is going to take place. Ask around and keep in check the most comfortable time for the event as it will not be easy for everyone to come during the weekdays.

Next up, you have to book the artists from that particular genre that you have selected. In a rock concert, you will have to ask the rock bands who are willing to come and you have to book them so that you can advertise them later on and people can come and listen to them.

Since everything is almost set and done; you have the place, the time and the artists, it is time for you to start promoting. Ask radio stations to advertise your musical event. If that particular radio station also reflects the same genre of music, then it will be just the perfect thing for you to do. Try to put posters, and banners, if your budget is strong enough.

Last, but not the least, gather a crew that will help you do most of your work. The crew is absolutely necessary. They float the word around, and they also help you in a lot of things that you might not be able to do alone.
