How to Properly Clean a Plasma TV Screen

Watching television was always entertaining, but plasma TVs have made the activity even more enjoyable. Not only does it deliver an excellent movie experience, it is ideal for current-generation consoles such as the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Getting a plasma TV is not the only requirement for an enjoyable experience, you also need to properly maintain it. Dust, fingerprints, smudges, etc. make it necessary to clean the screen on regular basis. The process is a simple one, though there are certain things that need to be kept in mind while performing it.

The first thing you need to do is to gather and prepare the necessary cleaning materials. Since the plasma TV screens have a specialised coating on them to keep the glare to a minimum, it is vital to avoid any cleaning liquid that contains ammonia or alcohol. Instead, mix a very small quantity of mild detergent into water and use that for the purpose. Alternatively, you can use the cleaning agents recommended in the manual that came with your TV. As for the cloth, get yourself a lint-free microfiber. Do not use cotton clothes of paper towels, as they can result in scratch on the screen.

Once you have prepared the necessary cleaning materials, unplug your plasma from the power source. Also remember to unplug the DVD player, gaming console or any other device that you may have connected to the TV. It is important to do this to remain safe from accidental electrocution.

Once you have unplugged your TV and any other electronic device connected to it, start wiping the plasma TV screen surface with a dry microfiber cloth to remove the dust and fingerprints from it.

  • 4

Dip the cloth in the cleaning agent prepared in the first step to make it only slightly moist. Wipe the plasma TV screen surface with the moist cloth. Be sure not to apply too much force while performing the task, as doing that can damage the screen.

After wiping the screen with the moist cloth, grab a completely dry microfiber cloth and wipe the screen with it.

After you are done cleaning the screen with the dry cloth, plug the plasma TV and any other devices connected with it back into the power source and start enjoying a cleaner screen.
