Now you need to get rid of any burr which may have accumulated on the surface of the door as a result of the damage. Use a razor blade to cut the large burrs and then sand the damaged area to get rid of the smaller burrs. The damage may be a hole in which case you will have to bevel sand the edge of the hole and then get rid of any loose shards using a razor blade.

Cut a piece of fibreglass sheet big enough to cover the crack. Place the fibreglass sheet over the hole or damage.

  • 4

Prepare a mixture of resin and hardener. Apply this mixture to the fibreglass sheet you cut in the earlier step. Apply this sheet to the damaged area and give time to resin to settle. Depending on the climatic conditions, it may take around 24 hours for the resin to harden completely.

Finally, level the repaired area with rest of the door. Use 200-grit sandpaper for the job. Use a dry towel to wipe away the sanding dust.

  • 6

Give a finishing touch to the repair work. Apply a coat of fibreglass primer. Let the primer coat dry completely and then apply a uniform coat of paint to finish the job.
