How to Replace Slats on Blinds

People usually use blinds throughout their homes as they look great and are very functional. However, when slats on blinds get damaged, it might end up costing you quite a bit of money to replace. Instead of calling a professional to replace slats on blinds, you can do the job yourself. Follow these simple techniques and with a little patience you will be able to easily replace slats on blinds.

    First, you need to order new slats by contacting to the same company from which you bought the blinds. Remember to order the same slats as they are specifically designed to go with your current blinds.

    For replacing the slats, you need to remove the buttons which are underneath the rail of the blinds. You can use a screwdriver, preferably a flat head, to remove these buttons. However, avoid pushing the screwdriver deep.

    Now you should open or untie the knots of string that runs along the bottom rail of the blinds. If it is hard to untie, use a needle to make the process easy. However, never cut the string as it will become useless and you will need a new string for the blinds.

    Then you should pull up the cord, also known as lift cord, to the level where broken slats are. Now start removing these slats from the bottom of the window.

    Now, start replacing the broken slats and run the cord or string backwards through the blinds. Make sure that each of the slats is in the proper direction and is also appropriately laced.

    Place the blinds one by one from the broken slats area to the bottom of the blinds. After getting it done, you should again tie the knot of the string. Keep the bottom rail of the blinds straight and balanced as you tie all the slats evenly.
