How to Report Lost Property while Travelling in London
Every year millions of Londoners use public transport facilities to commute within London and TFL handles all of the public transport. According to TFL’s approximate figures, they find 184,000 lost properties every year on tube, buses, DLR, taxis and trains. So whenever, by any chance, you lose your valuables while travelling on London public transport, you should immediately report that lost property to TFL and in case they find it, they will give it back to you. To report any lost item to TFL, you have to follow certain procedures that are described in the following steps.

First of all, have your details ready like the mode of travel, to and from stations, times and serial numbers of items, if applicable.

Visit TFL Lost Property Website. When you open this website, you will be able to see the details related to each mode of travel. Scroll down to check the appropriate one in your case. For example; if your device was lost on the tube, scroll down to London Underground option and read the details.

Now click on the link below the paragraph of your mode of travel, which will state “Tfl Lost Property form”.

Now you will be able to see a form. Enter the date and time, property lost, colour of the item and other descriptions related to it. Also enter the journey details like mode of travel, to and from stations and times etc.

Scroll down and enter your personal contact details so in case TFL wants to get in touch with you, they will have all of your contact details.
Once done, press the submit lost property enquiry form button.
It’s all done. Now if you have insurance on your goods, Contact TFL lost property office by calling them at +44 845 330 9882 to get your report reference number. You will need this to make your insurance claim.
