How to Restore Antique Mirrors
As time goes by, the mirror and structure of an antique mirror tends to wear thing and eventually end up falling off. The old glass on the mirror ends up becoming rather irregular, but also looks rather appealing at the same time. However, this mirror is rather useless, and most people would much rather restore it.
Restoring the mirror would end up giving the whole item a much higher market price and value, which could lead to you making a healthy profit off of the sale of the mirror, should you opt to sell it in the future.
However, when restoring antique mirrors, you need to be very careful, you need to go on and do things in a very particular manner, or you could end up with an antique mirror that is broken, worthless and one that you wasted a lot of time, money and effort on.

1
Inspect
Before you do anything to an antique item, such as a mirror, you need to go on and inspect it thoroughly. You need to make sure that it is going to be of some value later on.
This is the smartest thing to do, because you don't want to go ahead and spend a lot of money repairing something, if it won't be worth much later on. -
2
Repair damage to body
After you have gone on to inspect the mirror, the next thing you need to do is to assess the body of the mirror.
Now with old mirrors, chances are that the body will be in really bad shape, with a lot of work being required to get it back to full strength. Try and get the help of an expert in this part, since otherwise you could end up with a mirror that is in a worse off condition as compared to when you started. -
3
Replace mirror
The last thing you want to do, is to go on and replace the mirror in your antique item. This is going to have to be done very carefully. Now the old mirror in the frame might look nice, but it has absolutely no purpose and it can't do anything.
You might have to get a custom mirror made, but in order to get the best out of your antique item, you should probably go ahead and do that.
