Having knowledge about the schedule is very important. If you do not know the right time and the designated bus stop, you will never be able to ride on the proper city bus. Information regarding time tables and routes of a particular city bus can be found either on a bus station or on from the official website of the public transportation system.

Make sure reach the designated bus stop before the bus reaches there so that you can safely get on board the bus. Once, the bus has departed, running after the bus to make it stop is useless and can be dangerous at times. Before you board the bus, confirm that you are boarding the right bus by verifying the route number and destination of the bus.

To pay the fare, you can either buy a bus pass, which will allow you to make a certain number of trips after paying a certain amount of fee in one go, or you can opt to pay each time you ride the bus. If you are a student, senior, disabled or a social worker, you will be entitled to get a bus pass at a discounted rate.

Wait for the bus to come to a complete halt before boarding it. Do not make haste as it can be dangerous. After you have carefully boarded the bus, show the driver your bus pass. If you do not have pass and intend to pay through cash, insert the right amount of cash in the cash box and get the ticket. In most buses, the cash box is located next to the driver’s seat.

Look for an available seat in the bus. If the bus is already occupied and you have to stand, make sure that the distance you adopt is wide. Remember to keep a firm grip while you stand because the bus can come to a sudden halt at times.

When you are near your destination, press the STOP button. This will alert the driver that a passenger has to get off the bus on the next designated stop. When the bus stops, carefully get off it and remember to keep your belongings with you.
