How to Select a Paragraph on the IPhone
Apple introduced a feature in firmware 3.0 that allows iPhone users to select a paragraph within an application and then perform actions such as cut, copy, or paste on the selected paragraph. The process of selecting a paragraph can seem a bit confusing for those who are new to the feature or the iPhone itself.

1
The first thing you need to do is to switch your iPhone on and then unlock its home-screen by swiping your finger on the slider at the bottom of the screen. While people who have been using a smart-phone may consider this to be something obvious, those new to cell-phones and smart-phones in particular may find themselves in a bit of a confusion when they pick up their cell-phone, press the screen only without getting any response since the screen is locked. Make sure the battery of your iPhone is not running low. If it is, plug in the charger.

2
After you have unlocked the home-screen of your iPhone, locate and tap the application that contains the paragraph that you wish to select. The icon for the application you want to access may be located on the very first page that you see once you unlock the screen, or it may be on another page, which you can view by swiping your finger horizontally across the screen.
-
3
Once the application is open, put your finger on the first word in the paragraph that you want to select and keep it pressed. Drag the cursor to the start of the word. iPhone will facilitate you to position the cursor with a magnifying glass.
-
4
Take your finger off the screen to make a context menu appear on the screen. Tap the “Select” button in the menu. It will highlight the first word in the paragraph and place grab points both at its beginning and end.
-
5
Press your finger on the grab point at the end of the first word and drag it all the way to the end of the paragraph that you want to select.
-
6
Choose the action to perform on the paragraph from the context menu. You can “Cut,” “Copy” or “Paste” the paragraph, though more actions can be performed as well.
