How to Set a Cuckoo Clock to the Correct Time
Generally, cuckoo clocks come with various embellishments such as music, dancers, thermometers, not to forget the cuckoo bird itself. If you have a cuckoo bird at your home, you would want to know how to properly set the time on it. The task is very simple and as a matter of fact, setting time on a cuckoo clock does not take more than 5 minutes. Moreover, you will not need any specialised tools.
Things Required:
– Cuckoo Clock
– Clock or watch displaying the correct time
Instructions
-
1
Start by raising the clock’s weights until the distance of each of the weights is 2 inches from the case of the cuckoo clock. You will need to pull the chain alongside each weight in order to raise it. However, before raising the weights, it would be wise to ensure that the cuckoo clock is properly attached to the wall so that it would not fall off.

2
Check and make sure that the minute hand cap nut of the cuckoo clock is finger tight only. Make changes if required.
-
3
With the tip of your finger, slowly start to turn the minute hand (the longer hand) in a clockwise direction and stop when the minute hand is directly above the hour hand.
-
4
The clock will sound a number of strikes. Count the strikes and use them as a reference to check that the hour hand is in its correct position. For instance, if the clock sounds 7 strikes, the hour hand should be at the 7 o’clock position. If that is not the case, you will have to gently turn the hour hand and bring it to the correct position manually.
-
5
Watch the correct time on another clock or a watch and accordingly turn the minute hand of the clock in a counter-clockwise direction. Make sure you do not touch or move the hour hand while you are turning the cuckoo clock’s minute hand.

6
Finally, lower the weights that you raised earlier. You cuckoo clock would now be showing the accurate time.
