Many people want to be like television characters, that skilfully use a gun and accurately shoot targets. However, not everything is as simple as it seems. To shoot a target with a gun, you should understand certain important rules.

Once you have purchased a gun and are acquainted with the primary skills, you should start learning the art of shooting targets. There are numerous training methods and certain techniques can that help you learn how to shoot a target with a gun.

    Pick the right position before you start shooting. Try to adjust your body weight keeping in mind the feel of the gun.

    Start practicing with the gun after finding a static target to shoot at. However, it is advised not to shoot at random as the goal is to hit the target from a safe distance in a controlled environment.

    Carefully pick up the gun, keeping your fingers away from the trigger. Never point the barrel of a weapon at anybody as it can be a fatal mistake. In some countries, it is considered a crime to point a weapon at somebody. Insert the magazine of ammunition and bring the cartridge into the chamber by pulling and lowering the bolt carrier.

    Take a shooting position. Stand with your feet shoulder width apart and lean slightly forward, make sure you are standing firmly.

    Align the front sight with the gun. Usually, people aim at the target after closing one eye. If you do not have any experience, try to aim with both eyes.

    Carefully move the finger to the trigger and slowly push it. Try to inhale before firing, then exhale and hold your breath until you pull the trigger. Hold the gun tightly, keep in mind that the shot will be accompanied by a lasting impact. Try to fire some shots after taking aim again.
