Mother’s Day is not the only time you can show your love and gratitude to your mother, who has given birth to you and tended to your needs till you grew up. Unfortunately, most of us, after moving out, don’t find enough time for our parents. While your work or business might keep you in touch with your father, often it is the mothers who stay at home that are neglected by their children. However, that does not have to be case if you are willing to put in a little effort to make your mother feel special and show her how grateful you are to have her.

Take out time for a small chat
You will be surprised how happy you can make your mother with a simple phone call. Even if you have not visited her recently, just give her a call during the evening, or when you feel she will be free and talk to her about her daily routine. Most parents feel lonely in their late years and your effort to reach out to her will be much appreciated. You can tell her about your family and how things are going on your end. -

Pay her a surprise visit
Taking your kids to see their grandmother can be an excellent surprise. However, be sure that you take food along so that your mother does not have to cook for everyone. It is also recommended that you take a gift with you, something you know your mother to like. While you may visit her on special occasions, like Christmas, a surprise visit is sure to show her how much you care. -

Take her sightseeing
If your mother is old and does not get out of the house much, she will really appreciate you finding the time to take her sightseeing. Moreover, a lot of things in your city might have changed over the years and you showing your mother around will only make her happier. Be sure to take lots of photographs and get them framed for her and yourself. -

Bake a special cake for her from scratch
Nothing says thank you like a special cake baked from scratch. If you don’t know how, you can take help from your spouse and bake a cake that your mother would like. You should also get a small card to give with the cake and write how thankful you are.
