How to Solve Error Code 0x80004005 Starting Windows XP
If you use Microsoft Windows XP on your computer, then you might have come across an error, at least once, saying “0x80004005” when you boot your Windows. It is one of the errors that Microsoft has designed to report specific issues, related to the operating systems. The error codes make it easy for the users to know about the real problem with the operating system, and how to repair the problem.
0x80004005 is an error which is related to the Windows Defender. It tells that the windows defender was unable to delete the adware or spyware. Many people may think of it as a huge problem. However, the reality is quite different, as you can easily remove the error, by following a small process, which will not take much of your time.

Click on the Start button and move your cursor to the “My Computer” icon from the menu. Right click and select properties. You can also do it by right clicking the “My Computer” at your desktop, if you have enabled the desktop icon.

A new window will appear on the screen, where you should click the “System Restore” tab. You will now see "Turn Off System Restore on All Drives". Select the box and Click “OK”.

The operating system will now ask you to confirm the last action. You should click “Yes” in order to confirm that you want to turn off the System Restore option on all your PC's drives.

Now restart your computer. For that purpose, select the “Start” button and click the “Shut Down” option. The explorer will not give you multiple options, click on “Restart”.

When the computer restarts, click on the Start button , then right click the “My Computer” icon from the menu and select properties. You can also do it by right clicking the “My Computer” at your desktop, if you have enabled the desktop icons. Click the “System Restore” tab. Click the check box against "Turn System Restore Off" to un-check it.

Click the “Apply” button and then click the “OK” button when prompted. You have successfully removed the “0x80004005” error and it will not appear when you will turn on your computer again. Moreover, you have also turned on your System Restore option.
