Instructions

  • 1

    Check all symptoms

First of all, you need to be certain that the pain the baby is suffering or the reason due to which the child is crying is teething. The child could be crying due to other issues as well, like stomach pain or illness. The most common symptoms for teething include low fever, unusual irritation and red cheeks.

  • 2

Give the child a warm bath

When the baby is in great pain, give him or her a warm bath. This will calm down the child and divert attention from the pain. Give the baby a light massage after the bath to soothe the pain and put the child to sleep.

  • 3

    Get teething toys

This is probably the most common and effective solution to the problem. During the teething phase, the baby feels irritated and restless and needs something to chew on. Teething toys are generally made from safe rubber and can be chewed on for months without wearing out or breaking.

Give the baby a damp washcloth

You can wet a clean washcloth and put it in a freezer before giving it to your baby. The texture of the washcloth will provide relief to the baby’s gums. You can place the washcloth in a plastic bag while it is in the freezer to keep it clean.

    Visit the doctor

This should be the last resort. If the pain is too much for the baby, you should take it to a child specialist. As pointed out earlier, teething may not be the only problem and you should not take risks with your child's health.
