You must have witnessed children that are quite different from the usual lot. They have band tees and a very sarcastic attitude towards everything especially humour. They also have worn out vans and have a very separate taste of music with songs installed on their ipod which are not being heard by anyone. They are usually not talkative and mingle to their type of clan only. They are found with their headphones tucked inside their ears and sipping coffee at the cafeteria with a classic magazine or a book in their hand. They are the hipsters or what you call Indies. You can be one of them if you want to by following simple things.

Read about the indie lifestyle and the culture which is followed by this particular type of clan. It is not the dressing or outlook that counts but the attitude that separates these people from others. Listening to a particular type of music with a classic in your hand and acting like a hipster is not enough. You have to enrich yourself with the culture. They have the aspect of individuality in them so no one sees them doing the usual stuff. You have to do different new things and adventures that will separate you from the rest. Stand up for what you do and respect other extroverts.

Dress like them and stay away from the crowd. Hipsters usually don’t like to befriend different type of people but their type only so wear skinny jeans, vintage band tees and worn out shoes. Your grandmother’s scarf is also one of the things that you should love to wear along with ballet flats and a tee. You might feel awkward in that sort of dressing but it is their style so you have to embrace it with open hands and feel proud of it. You are to stand out from the rest; different from others.

You have to find a unique hobby like if you are a girl you can gang up with all boys group and standing out like them. You can also do painting and photography but that can be too usual unless you paint of photograph something exceptionally unique.

Use old jewellery like your grandmother’s ring or necklace. Be different from the pattern and latest fashion. Listen to metal and hardcore rock music; bands must be followed by few.
