How to Stay Lean During the Holidays

Holiday season is all about joy, celebration and a wide range of delicious food. With the holiday season knocking on the door, its variety of flavours is already in the air. The special and authentic report of the National Institute of Health shows that “the holidays repeatedly result to an additional pound or two per year.” On the other hand, you would be well aware of the health issues related to weight gain. Staying lean during the holidays is of course a challenging task. Luckily, solutions are available to stay in shape during the holidays. All you have to do is, follow them properly, stick to them and survive the holidays with a well-shaped body.

    Always eat with your eyes

    Rather than digging in, survey the dished on the dining table first and then start on filling your plate. Light but healthy and filling items should be your main focus, like fruits, seafood and vegetables etc. It helps in keeping yourself light on the calorie meter. Filling your plate doesn’t mean building food towers. Make sure not to be like those people who stack up food items on their plates, who eat the night away, rather than enjoying the holiday party.

    Another simple idea to avoid overeating in the holiday party is, eat a small and light snack prior to heading out to the celebration.

    Celebrations do not mean compromising on your health. Try to reserve some time during the holidays to continue your exercise schedule in order to burn the additional calories that you put on. Hit your nearest gym regularly during the holidays or continue with the light exercises like jogging, walking, swimming, aerobic, yoga etc

    Don’t compromise on your water intake and make sure to drink at least 10 glasses of water per day. It boosts metabolism, digestion, and the burning of extra calories.

The best thing you can do in this regard is, spend the next day on loading up on more water, vegetables, green tea, leafy greens, and fresh fruits in order to overcome the overeating.
