How to Stop Nausea with Acupressure
Millions of us suffer from nausea and travel sickness caused by pregnancy, depression, anxiety and even travelling due to the motion of aircraft, trains, cars and boats, making trips and travelling a nightmare. But relief from such symptoms of an urge to throw up can be achieved without the use of drugs or other medicine by simple techniques working on the principles of acupressure.

The most effective and well known of the acupressure point for treating nausea, motion sickness and especially vomiting during Pregnancy is the Neiguan/ Nei Kuan (P6 -Pericardium 6). Neiguan is located on the inner wrist, about two finger widths proximal to the wrist crease in the middle of the two tendons, pressure on which can relieve symptoms of nausea.

Another acupressure point capable of providing relief from nausea and motion sickness symptoms is the GB 21. This acupressure point can be palpated two to three inches lateral to the side of neck just on the tip of shoulder joint. This acupressure point may also provide relief from other symptoms such as nausea, vertigo and asthma.

An acupressure point, the ST36 is also capable of relieving symptoms of nausea and can be located three thumb widths below the knee cap towards the lateral aspect of the leg in the trough just away from the prominent shin bone.

One can also find relief from nausea, stomach issues, anxiety and even chest congestion through a pressure point located on the elbow. This acupressure point can be found on the medial aspect of the elbow joint on the inside of the Biceps Muscle Tendon.

Relief from nausea can also be achieved through a gentle massage on the acupressure point found midway between one’s belly button and the sternum on the ventral aspect of the body. This same point is also of great importance if one wishes to seek relief from gastrointestinal conditions such as heartburn, diarrhea and poor digestion.

Once palpated massage at one or more of the above mentioned points for four to five minutes, or until symptoms are relieved. Pressure may be applied with the tip of your finger, your knuckle or even the eraser end of a pencil.

Relief from symptoms of nausea and especially motion sickness can also be achieved through the use of knitted elastic wristbands. These wristbands apply pressure to the same above mentioned Nei Kuan acupressure point thus relieving symptoms of nausea and motion sickness arising from air travel, pregnancy, water travel and other travels with no drugs necessary.
