How to Store Dry Cleaned Clothes

Having clean clothes ready to wear is always a good thing. There are a number of ways that the clothes can be cleaned and there are certain fabrics that require special care in comparison with others. Dry cleaning is one of the options that are used on clothes that are delicate in nature.

Storing dry cleaned clothes can be done in more than a single way and each kind of fabric may require a different method. You can be smart about storing the clothes and keep them stored a longer period of time by using some simple techniques.

Instructions

  • 1

    Bag Them

Before storing the clothes, it is a great idea to put them in plastic coverings. This will save them from dust as well as odours in the longer run. Make sure that the clothes are properly covered and there is no place from which the dust can enter. Do make sure that you keep them in open when you get them back from the dry cleaner. Make sure that you take the dry cleaners cover off and let them take some air so that any smell of the chemical that they may have is removed.

  • 2

    Keep Them in Ventilated Area

This is an important thing to do. If you are hanging them in a room, make sure that the windows are opened every now and again and sunlight and air is let in. This will kill the germs that are in the room and will keep the environment healthier. Do make sure that all the clothes get some sunlight and if you have a revolving hanger, rotate it every time you have the windows open.

    Hang Ironed Clothes

Instead of folding and packing the ironed clothes, hang them. This will help in keeping their shape for a longer period of time and whenever you need to wear your favourite coat that you got dry cleaned a couple months back, you can just pull it out of the closet and put it on.

    Do Not Use Mothballs

Although many people use them, they are not the best thing for the clothes. These can bring in a smell that is hard to get rid of and you will need to keep the clothes in the sunlight for a pretty good amount of time in order to get rid of it, although it is unlikely that all of it will go away even then.
