How to Stretch After a Workout

“Use it or lose it”- It is actually very true! If you do not use your body in a proper manner, you will surely lose its shape and strength with the passage of time. Your muscles will become sagging and feeble and your internal organs like heart and lungs won’t function proficiently. And, your joints will be rigid and as result can get injured due to minor accidents. On the other hand, your workout could not be counted as a very useful one until you don’t stretch your muscles at the end of it. Stretching muscles is useful for gaining and maintain flexibility. The stretchier you are, the less likely you are to become injured. However, stretching your muscles is not as simple as it looks like. You must have a proper knowledge how to Stretch after a Workout.     Focus on your muscle groups

    First of all concentrate on your muscle groups that were worked out the most. For example, if you have just completed a jogging session or a run, you will want to stretch your legs. And, after doing the pull-ups or push-ups, you will want to stretch your arms or abs.

    Stretch the target muscle

    Put a placid stretch on the selected muscle, making sure that your body is in good alignment. It helps in preventing the possible chances of injury.

    Change your position

    Steadily modify your position in order to carry on stretching the target muscle until you can no longer stretch it at ease. Do not go beyond this point as it can hurt or injure you.

    Hold the specific stretch

    Now hold the specific stretch for at least 10 to 15 seconds and no longer than that. Leave it smoothly and then stretch the same muscle on the other side of your body.

    Repeat with the other parts of the body

    Repeat step 2, 3 and 4 with the other parts of your body that were worked out.
