When it comes to tall buildings, you will experience greater shocks if you are on any of the top floors. You’d be lucky if you are on the ground floor as escaping would be far easier from there. However, if you are in one of the top floors then try to run to a place for cover. Mostly, standing under a door or a pillar is preferred since their construction is solid enough to withstand a strong jolt of earthquake.

If you think that the shocks’ intensity is too high, try to lie down on the floor. You can’t fall if you are already on the floor. Therefore, after finding cover, simply lie down on the floor with hands over your head so you don’t end up hurting your skull.

Try not to move too much. First make sure that you are safe and then try to save others. Your safety is primary at this point in time. If you think that you are in a safe spot, don’t leave it. Stay on the floor with your head covered and remain stationary for as long as the earthquake lasts.

If it isn’t safe for you to stay in a single place, moving around will not help either. Open your eyes and look around to find the perfect place for cover. Standing under a chandelier is definitely not a bright idea. Similarly, avoid any contact with sharp and fragile objects or you will end up hurting yourself. Move away from areas where you think something might fall over you.

Lastly, if you think it is suitable and you can do it, run towards the fire escape. There is a high possibility that the elevators are blocked and there are chances that most of the people might be running downstairs as well. Keep a close eye on everything and only then make your move. When it comes to tall buildings, it becomes hard for anyone to run all the way down to the ground floor.
