Buy the kid a cage for the rodent
Get a cage that will allow the rodent space to move at his will. Make sure that it has a screened top for air so that the animal does not suffocate to death. Teach the kid to provide comfort for the mouse
Purchase bedding for the creature to lay on the surface of the cage. You can make use of shredded paper or hardwood shavings. Try to not use cedar and pine shavings as they can damage a rodent’s respiratory system. Moreover, place water in the cage so that it can drink whenever he is thirsty.
