1
Take the bottles out of freezer
You cannot just put breast milk into a bottle and freeze it. It is strongly suggested that you put labels on the bottle to keep record of the expiry date. Note that frozen breast milk is best for use within the next four to six months and after that it is strongly recommended that you should not give it to your baby. Therefore, the first thing you need to do for thawing breast milk is to take out the milk bottles from the freezer and note the dates mentioned on these bottles. If the milk is older than six months, you should not use it and throw it out. -
2
Put the bottles in refrigerator
After taking out the bottles from the freezer, you must place these in your refrigerator. You cannot shift the temperature from one extreme to another; therefore it is strongly advised that you put the bottles in the refrigerator for at least 12 hours. This will help the milk reach a relatively moderate temperature and will also secure its quality. During these 12 hours, the frozen milk will easily melt and turn into liquid form. -
3
Defrost the milk
After you have placed the milk in the refrigerator, you must make attempts to defrost it properly. For this, you will have to place the milk bottle or bag in warm water. It is strongly advised that you should leave the bottles for at least half an hour in warm water.
