How to Throw a Lord of the Rings Party

Lord of the Rings has extended beyond the book and the movie. The story and its characters have become a living part of our lives. Many of us have started believing in elves and hobbits after the great classical book by Tolkein. If you want to throw a party and you know your friends and family are as crazy about Lord of the Rings as yourself, than maybe you have found the perfect theme.     The invitations:

    Make home made invitation cards. Print out picture of Lord of the rings characters and paste them on the cards. Use your computer and the printer to write text in an antiquated style of writing or in simple italics.

    Costumes and Decoration:

    Ask all guests in the invitation cards to come dressed as their favorite characters from the story. Send out invitations at least two weeks early so that guests have time to prepare costumes.

    Hang a banner on the entrance with the inscription 'welcome to Middle Earth'. Hang up posters of the characters on the walls. Place golden tablecloth on the tables and play a background song from 'the fellowship of the ring'.

    Activities:

    Arrange games for the guests revolving around the theme of the story. Organize a treasure hunt around the house where guests will finally have to reach to a golden ring. You can also organize an archery competition by buying plastic bows and arrows from the market. A quiz competition from the book and movie among the guests will also be interesting and revive the great story.

    Food and drinks:

    Order a cake with any lord of the rings figurine on it. It could also be a simple gold ring. You can also order a ring shaped cake. Make think cakes like the 'Lembas', the favorite cakes of the elves. Wrap them up in lettuce leaves to create the same effect. For drinks, serve ginger ale in earthen ware jugs.
