Hearst Castle, the former property of a newspaper owner, Bill Randolph Hearst, is situated halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco, in San Simeon. The 250,000-acre property was given to the State of California by the Hearst family after Mr. Hearst’s died and the property was made open to the public in 1957. Consider following some simple tips and to enjoy the time of your life at one of the most historical places. You can also take your friends, family or colleagues with you if desired. Before doing anything you will need to arrange for the tickets. Without valid passes, you will not be able to enter the premises of the castle. Entrance to Hearst Castle is done by purchasing passes on site or if you want you can also go online and buy some tickets for a tour.

If you are unable to find tickets online, you can contact one of the customer service members at the Hearst Castle ticket’s office located right outside the castle. Make sure to book the tickets in advance to avoid disappointment later on. Discounted rates are available for kids between six and 17 and for the disabled. Kids under six years of age can enter the castle without purchasing any tickets. Hearst Castle is open every day, except for Chrstmas Day, New Year’s Day and Thanksgiving Day.

If you are visiting Hearst Castle for the first time, consider taking the experience tour. This tour covers most aspects of the Hearst property. You will be allowed to see many areas that are usually not shown to the general public.

Do not forget to tour the Casa Grande which is situated right at the centre of the castle. Hearst Castle provides two different tours at the Casa Grande. It is simple impossible to cover the 56-bedroom, 61-bath mansion in one tour. The "Upper Floors" trip contains the Medieval research, the collection (with its more than 4000 books), the Venetian-style Doge's Package and the kitchen. The "North Wing" trip reveals guests the last inclusions in the house, such as the side of Spanish-style visitor packages.
