How to Treat Diaper Rash

Diaper rash can be very disconcerting for a baby and the parents alike. It can range from very mild irritation to severe redness and even bleeding. However there are ways in which this rash can be contained and treated.

Things Required:

First of all, you need to take off your baby’s diaper and rinse his/her bottom with warm water. After that, pat dry with a soft towel.

You can also purchase fleece from the fabric store, cut it into wipe-sized strips, and use them for wiping your baby's bottom. Fleece wipes are very soft and easily washable. They are also available over the shelf in market.

Whenever you change your baby’s diaper, leave their bottom exposed to air for a few minutes as this will dry out any moisture present on the skin. Apply either petroleum jelly or a medicated diaper rash cream. You can also consult with any of your friends who have babies, and ask them about an effective rash cream, or you could consult your doctor. Desitin Original Overnight is one of the best rash creams available in the market these days.

You should also watch out for a yeast rash. If the diaper rash does not clear up within a few days of initiating treatment, your baby may have a yeast rash. A yeast rash will typically respond to an over the counter anti-fungal like Lotrimin. You can put this on your baby's bottom four times a day while using the above steps.
