How to Update Camera Assistant Software
Most of the Toshiba laptops contain built-in Chicony webcams and the software which powers on and manages the camera is called Camera Assistant. Like other software companies, Toshiba also updates its Camera Assistant software on regular basis, in order to remove any bugs in the previous versions, or to add new features.
Therefore, if you are encountering some problems with your Camera Assistant program, or you have having trouble in using your camera, you might need to update the software. It is really easy to update the software. You only need a few clicks and you will have a new version installed in your laptop.

To download the latest update for your program, you should visit the Toshiba’s "Latest Updates for All Models" website. Now you need to select the operating system that you are using on your Toshiba laptop. This is really important to select the right operating system, as different updates are designed for different operating systems.
For example, if you are using Windows 7 and you select Windows XP by mistake, then the update may not work well with your Camera Assistant software.
Usually, windows will not proceed with the installation of the wrong update. Even if it does, the program may not work after you are done with the installation. Therefore, you should be very careful when selecting the operating system. -

Now select “Camera” from the “Category” section. You will see a list of versions for the Camera Assistant software. Carefully examine the release date and release number of the program. Select the one which was recently released. In the meantime, you should also confirm if the version works well with your model of laptop, under "Applicable Models" section.

Click “Download Now” button and a pop up window will appear to ask you about the location where you want to save the setup file. Save it on your desktop or at any other drive in your hard disk. Click “Save”.

After the download is complete, locate the file and double click on it. The installation dialog box will appear. Click “Next” to continue installing the update. Follow the instructions and click “Finish” in the end.

You will now have an updated version of the Camera Assistant program, which will include any new applications, if updated by Toshiba.
