How to Use an XD-Picture Card
Having an external memory in the digital camera is essential; it is really hard to capture the moments freely without it. No digital camera has a large internal memory; therefore, the manufacturers always offer a slot for the memory card.
Imagine how frustrating it would be to have no memory left in the camera, when you are actually capturing the most important part of an event.
An XD-picture card is an external flash memory used only for the digital cameras. However, not all the cameras support this card. This card usually suits the Olympus and Fujifilm cameras.

First of all, you need to ensure that your device supports a XD-Picture card. If it does, you cannot use any other card. When buying an XD-Picture card, don’t forget to choose the appropriate speed of the card. These cards are available in three different speeds; H, M and M+. The latter of the three is the latest technology with the best speed. On the other hand, the H type cards are old and slow.

Once you are finished with the speed, it is the time to select the size of the card. You will find XD-Picture cards in several sizes, but the 1 GB and 2 GB sizes are the most common. Again, it entirely depends on your requirement. If you have no plan of taking a lot of pictures at the same time, a 1GB card is ideal for you. It won’t be too expensive.

The final step is inserting the card into the device. It is always better to format it before. You can do this by attaching the card to your computer through a card reader.
Make sure you are inserting the card in the right direction. If you find any resistance, there is surely something with the direction. Turn the card over, and try again. Don’t forget to read the instructions in the camera’s documents.
