The first thing that you need to do is to select the slide that contains the text or object that you want to animate. You can select the slide by locating it under the “Slide” tab on the left side of the PowerPoint panel.

After you have made the selection of the slide, click the “Animations” tab located on the top of the panel. You will notice a new group of options appearing under it. Choose custom animations from the drop-down menu in front of “Animations” or click “Custom Animation” to have more control of the animations.

Move your mouse cursor on “Entrance.” Another sub-menu will appear, giving you the option to choose between different effects such as “Blinds,” “Box,”  “Checkerboard,” “Diamond,” “Fly in,” etc.

After you choose your desired effect from the “Entrance” sub-menu, the task pane under “Custom Animation” will change to let you modify the effect that you chose. You will now be required to specify whether the text or object should appear on click, or if it should appear automatically after a specified time. Also choose the direction in which the text or object moves across the screen, while also specifying the speed at which it should move.
